So Treefarmer, how is the unborn not a human?
What are the standards…?

I think SquatMonger is getting the idea of human vs human being confused.  Because it’s similar to a parasite it’s not a human being.  A human being is a separate entity in itself.  If a fetus is born as a still born it’s still human, but not a human being.

Though the unborn child acts like a parasite, does that change the fact that it is a human being?

I was merely talking about internally.  Externally is a completely different thing. I mean, euthanasia tends to be frowned upon, especially with infants, until they reach the age of two that is. But all lightness aside, babies don’t have to be breast fed. A father could use formula to feed the infant.  Of course kids are going to be dependent on their parents, but they aren’t solely dependent on a single individual.  Looking at the definition, An organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the survival of its host. I guess i don’t know why it wouldn’t be considered a parasite.  It’s not mutualism or commensalism, so i don’t see why it can’t be seen as a parasite?

TreeFarmer, your parasite analogy is a false and does not hold.  A baby that is breast fed is entirely dependent upon the mother for survival but it is hardly a parasite.  But in your world the mother would have the right to kill it.  Also, even if the infant is not being breast fed it is entirely dependent on someone to survive.  Does anyone have the right to kill it just because?  No.  I could go on but the point is you have made an argument that does not hold water.

6) When the embryo implants in the lining of the uterus, it…
So basically the fetus represses the mother’s immune system because otherwise the body would see that it is diverting nutrients and minerals from the body to the fetus.  The fetus has to repress the immune system because it is a parasite.  It relies solely on the mother.  When someone is in a vegetative state, the family can have the feeding tube removed.

A fetus contains 50% of a Mother’s DNA, resides within her, and is completely dependent on her.  We remove tapeworms because they can be detrimental to our health, just as a fetus can be.  The argument “My body, my choice” does not expound upon the idea that a fetus is an extension of one’s body, but that because of its residence and because of its dependence, the host has the authority to determine the termination.

2) In many cases, the blood type of the unborn child….
If an RhD negative mother has an RhD positive child, all subsequent pregnancies of RhD positive children will be naturally aborted due to hemolysis of the red blood cells.
Even though a fetus is compartmentalized, i.e., the amniotic fluid.  But, it is the mother who actually gives the sustenance to the fetus.  She ultimately should have the choice.
